Reading the Media: Media Literacy in High School English takes readers behind the scenes at Concord High School in New Hampshire, where teachers developed a year-long required English 11 course focusing on Media/Communications. This book presents the first field-based empirical evidence that documents the rich impact of media literacy on the development of adolescents’ writing, reading, and critical analysis skills.

Renee Hobbs, Associate Professor in the Broadcasting, Telecommunications and Mass Media (BTMM) Department as well as the Mass Media and Communication (MMC) program, is one of the nation’s leading authorities on media education. She directs the Media Education Lab at Temple University and is a co-founder of the Alliance for a Media Literate America (AMLA), the national membership organization that hosts the National Media Education Conference.
